Not a classic but...
I thought I'd share a little something that happened to my brother with his Shelby.
He has been having issues with his fuel system running very lean to the point they took it off the Dyno when he was trying to geta customtune. Well coming back from visiting some relatives of ours in Detroit he had some issues with his car stalling and running poorly in Chattanooga. Ended up having to stay overnight there since the ford dealership had to replace his fuel pump.
Fastforward two days later. My brother and I go down to visit a couple of old military buddies of his on the southside of Birmingham to talk and take in a movie. On the way back no issues till we get to my house and we smell what we thought was a strong paint smell.
That evening my brother calls me and tells me there is fuel spewing out of his grill when he pulls it into the garage, out of the hood vents and running all over his paint. He finds that the fuel line clamp had fallen off and gas was spraying directly on the supercharger. The next morning a full tank of premium is all over his garage floor. (Not happy for sure)
He gets the clamp from a local dealership and has it put on.
Drives to the base the next day and finds it spewing gas again. (not pleased at all)
He has it towed to the dealership where hebought the car and they call Shelby Automotive to give them hiscar number.
Of course they know it since it was a museum car and one of the first Whipple supercharged Shelbys.
Theyapparently flew people out here to take pictures and since it was a museum car the car will be fixed and every sticker that is even slightly damaged will be replaced...for free.
(Now my brother is happy again, except his car's in the shop for the same problemthat was supposed to be fixed twice before)
He's going through "Mustang withdrawals".
Best part is it made it to the shop instead of the alternative that would have been a very expensive marshmellow roast on the side of the road on a late friday night.
Like I said not a classic but very interesting situation regardless.

Thats like taking $15-20k and starting your fire place with it.
It is an 07 ShelbyGT/SC.
It was a museum car b/c he was in Afganistan when they finished it and he let them keep it on their showroom floor. It sat there for 6 months and because of that and the options on his car it's a 1 of 1 currently.
Nice thing is as a passenger you get to see Carrol Shelby's name on the dash when you ride in it.
