Default electrical problems

Hi,can anyone help i just installed a 351cleveland in a 70 mach 1. my problem is I've installed a new distributor/coil wires everything. When I crank it I'm getting an electric arch between my power steering line and shock tower. When I disconnect the leads to the coil(ignition and lead from distributor) the arch goes away. Could i have my coil leads backwards also the coil I got says use only resistorprinted on the coil.where is the resistor? as far as I know the wiring is stock. never seen this before I'm sure its somethimg simple but not real fluent with electrical issues. Thanks Norm

It may be that the engine is not grounded good and its jumping. Check the strap and/or wire and their connectors for a bad ground. This can be easily done by removing them and cleaning them with a wire brush.
