Default What Is It???

This switch is in my 68 convertible. What is it? Not in Ford parts manual diagram.

Looks like a brake light switch.
Maybe some kind of kludge repair.
If the brake lights work, then disconnect 1 wire. If they stop working then that is it. Or short the 2 wires together and see if the brake lights come on.
Is there a switch on the pedal?

There's a stoplight switch on the brake pedal. If I disconnect the switch in the phoho my brake lights still work (although when I turn the turn signals on the brake lights go out).

It's not a brake light switch. It's likely an improvised "low brake pressure" switch. These switches are normally on the distribution block. It's designed so that when you step on the brake pedal and it goes to the floor and the car doesn't stop, it'll illuminate an instrument cluster idiot light. You probably won't ned the light to tell you that you have no brake pressure as you smash into the car in front of you.... thus, idiot light.

Im not doubting Dave at all but i have seen a brake light switch that runs off the lines themselves that looks just like that thing, minus the crud and muck layer.

i had a brake ligh tswitch that looked exactly like this but was bolted to the master cylinder.

give it a try. check if your brake lights work. if they do unplug this thing and see if they still do
plug them back in and disconnect the cables at pedal
so you see which of those actually works the light

mayb ethe one on pedal didn't work, it was too much hassle to replace adjust, so the PO decided to go the hydraulic switch route .. who knows ... it's def not original and it's def a stoplightswitch
if it works or if it's even iin use you will have to find out

Yes, it is some sort of hodgepodge stop light switch (not a low pressure switch)....but I don't know why it's there. The low pressure switch is actually a mechanical switch (not hydraulic, since the system is at zero pressure when the pedal isn't being pressed)partially built into the distribution block, and can be seen sitting on top of it on the right side of the picture.
