Oh, and about the clutch pivot ball... took me about 15 minutes tops to file down a few burs in the spot I needed to drill and tap the hole. 15 minutes later the thing was drilled and tapped and the ball screwed in perfectly, not alot of room for error but still easy.

351w FTW!!! Don't get a cleveland because it would be even harder to fit in, but is still do able.

I say 351 because back in 69 a stock 4 barrel had 290hp and i think around 340 ft lbs of torque. With some minor cam, headers, intake, carb and some porting you should be able to achieve what you want easily (based on what little bit I know about engine building). Also a lot of parts of your old 302 can work on the 351, pretty much anything except the intake. It will be a very familiar engine to you since its very very similar to your 302.

and heck you can even get some AFR heads or something and a more radical cam and you are well into your goals hp wise. You can even stroke it to 408 and you're really golden! But you can definitely achieve your 320-350 from a near stock engine in my opinion.

Yeah 320 to 350 isn't that hard from a 351w with a few bolt-on mods. I've got one myself and a couple 9" rearends (just have to go get them ). The saying "There's no replacement for displacement" is so true!

4reboy.. minor correction. a 351 can be stroked out to 427ci.

Well listening to what all of you guys have said, I think I'm going to go with the 351W. I'll email the guy today about it and see what he says, thanks for all your help.

haha yes I am aware, but it can also be stroked to a 408... and 393. 408 seems to be the most common so I said that

Well the guy edited his craigslist ad and this is what now has to say:

"I pulled it out of a jeep project. did a tear down and found one of my exhaust valves was swiss cheese and then gave up. comes with everything but the distributer. has a holley 650 manual choke single pump. comes with engine stand. NO the quad and ramps are not for sale."

What do you guys think for $100?

I honestly couldn't answer that. I bought my long block that was completely rebuilt and bored 30 over for 800. All I had to do was button it up and throw it in... only I did work while it was out. Maybe you can base a decision off of that?

All you really need is the block, since you'd need good heads for a performance build. With a toasted exhaust valve count on the possibility for at least 1 head being cracked. Otherwise, just for the block/crank that are usable that's a good deal.

351w all the way, some guys will say 347 out of your 302.....so you have the same power as a 351w in a 302 block, big deal and then when you want more what do you do? you will want more I guarantee....go for a 351w and you can grow from there up to 428 cubes with a stock block. Once you feel the difference between the two it is a no brainer even in stock form.

Most people can't even handle a 347 on the street, so I don't see what they'd do with even more power.
