Just bought a 65 coupe with a 200 ci i-6 4sp manual transmission.Rescently rebuilt motor. New leaf spring/ tank. Floor pans done. Descent paint. Interior nice.....seat recovered and aftermarket radio. Awesome mags. Came with original rims and hubcaps. We will have to do the clutch as it has allready went out. Got her for $5000

 

one quick question. is it a 4 or 5 lug car? it sounds like someone put a i-6 into a v8 car.

Are you happy with her? I believe that is what counts. Many people say I paid too much for mine but that is what I could afford and now that I have her I can add things little by little instead of buying one that needed nothing and cost too much for what I can afford. Do you have any pics of the 65? I think it also depends on where you live. A few months ago on of my neighbors sold one in worse condidion that mine for 8,500.

 

seems like a decent deal to me too. especially with all that major work done.

 

200 engine rebuild is expensive, 4 spd tranny didn't come with I6s that I know of. Seems like a good deal. Just have to see pics of it.

 

BA would you happen to know how much it would cost to rebuild a 200, mine is going to need to be rebuilt but I was thinking of going to a 5.0.

 

She's a 4 lugger....the mags and original rims are both 4 lugger. I guess 4 spd's were optional in the I-6's over 3 sp'd....at least that is what I hear. I will post some pics when I can get the step son to do it. I can never get the pic postin thing down.

 

It really depends. My 200 was rebuilt and bored .040. That cost the PO 2500.

 

It could be original. That would be the first I have ever heard of one like that. I bet it gets better acceleration than an I6 with a 3 speed. 3rd gear sucks, I lose all acceleration.
