probably a dagenham 4 speed.....a rare tranny for a 6 cyl, so that in itself is pretty cool. as for getting parts, that's another story! you probably didn't get ripped off because classic mustangs are pretty high right now, but you definitely could've done better for $5000

IF you're happy, thats what matters....

Look, I got my 66 dirt cheap through some wheelin and dealin... but its rarely the case... These cars can be had for a good price, but the average is probably about where you're at... and a rebuild on an I6 is at LEAST $1200 here locally... so yeah. I'd say you did ok.

The fiancee's 66 with the IL6 had a 4 speed, but the O swapped it back to a 3 speed... (WTF?) I ripped the carpet out to find it has a weird hold cut out of the shifter hole.... the 4speed that was in it was a T10 and apparently was all sorts of jerryrigged with linkage to make it work...

Anyway, sounds like an average buy. And again, if you are happy, why ruin it by finding out you overpaid? Enjoy the car!

Looks better than mine. I paid more too. Looks like a really good car. I don't think you got ripped off. I've started to notice that more people are getting the I6 classic mustangs now and keeping the engine. I am happy about that.
