Default Whos painted their interior themselves?

I'm in the process of painting the dash, doors and rear panels. Anyone paint these themselves? What paint did you use and how did it turn out?

I will have pics in a few days, I'm on the last sanding before the actual color.

Cool, I want to follow this thread.
I'm going to do the same thing and was unsure if I should use interior paint or regular paint.

Well so far I have the column painted. I used some rustoluem enamel stuff. So far the column looks really good. And the paint feels really durable. Pics maybe tonight, after work and school.

I am going to be doing my doors and my interior quarter panels. I just got the stock paint from mustangs plus ( they said I would need 3 cans to do both doors and interior quarter panels) and some hi build primer (since I am going to take away the surface look that is on the interior and smooth it out.

I'm going to use actual automotive paint, and vinyl dye for the dash pad and kick panels, but i haven't goten there yet, so I can't help with that. But Iwas curious about how to strip the door panels, with out messing up the texture that is there?

OK, I did, but mine is different than yours... mine are plastic and fiberglass (as will be yours, WildMustang351) and I used plastic prep for cleaning them, then the NPD interior black paint for hard or rigid plastic or metal surfaces and the vinyl dye for pliable or flexible surfaces. Came out Great.

I am about to do the 66 in red, so I bought the dark red interior paint from NPD. What all did you do, Nick, to prep it for paint? I wanna do this once and only once. I am going to remove the cluster and ***** and all that, but what did you do to the metal itself and what products did you use? Thanks

Well the dash I will start in a few days after the doors are done. But the paint is in very good shape, the are a few small chips, that's why I am redoing all of the interior. Plus I'm painting it to gloss black...mmmm.

Well on the doors, I first came in with some striping sanding sponges and clean them down to mostly metal. For the first coat I went with the Rustoluem rust primer, to have a good foundation to start with. Then started in with the high build primer. One layer then a fine sanding sponge to get the hills of the texture down. Had to do this 3-4 times. Sounds like a lot, but really with all the sanding it isn't that much paint.

Once the doors are smoothed to where I want them to be, I will hit it with the rust primer once again. Only because it goes with the Rustoleum base I will be using. Spray on the color and be done with it.
