At $3,000 for paint I would have jumped at it. Unfortunatly here in Denver there are 2 kinds of paint jobs $600 Maco, and $6,000 and up paint jobs. I won't do the first, and can't afford the second, so I am trying it myself wit a lot of help from a friend that does body work for a living.

There's nothing wrong with having a Macco paint job on your car while a high school student. I had my first vehicle (1973 F 100) painted by Macco and they did a terrific job. If all it needs is paint, then remove the majority of chrome trim yourself and you'll be satisfied. Back in 1977, before the baby boomer driven hot rod craze, practically everybody got a Macco paint job. Get it painted and enjoy driving your shiny ride.

I was told I could get a paintjob for 1200-1500 not 3000. Most was 1500 and that was from a Mustang body shop.

I second the Maaco or something like it. It would look okay and most importantly it would protect against rust.. Well as long as you fix any issues first..

I would check into your local Maaco or Maaco type place. The Maaco near me does some amazing work.

you could paint it yourself but it would cost more than the macco paint job.

But it would probably be a better job and you would learn a lot.

Painting the car is very very easy.

properly preping and sanding the car correctly can be very difficult (sometimes) and always takes a very long time to do right.

yea you can still find 1500 dollar paint jobs, but its only the outside of the car and the paint quality is not going to be that great...

i was going to try and stay away from the maaco paintjobs just because the one thats by me doesnt do the best work, and a friend of mine has a booth and a good spray gun that i could use. i dont think i will have much of a problem with rust, the underside is pretty clean and there are only two little rust bubbles starting to form, so hopefully i dont find too much.
