Question about Maaco? yes...i know
I have a question. Does anyone know the process they use to get an entire car ready for paint? I cant really see them striping the entire car. Probably just a sand?
My local Maaco does some really good work on entire cars and I'm considering them.

Their prep work is terrible, but i don't think their paint work is too band. (i mean, if that's all you do all day, you get kinda good at it even by mistake!!). i'm thinking about prepping mine myself (and doing the jambs), then sending it to maaco to spray.

I've taken car parts to them prepped and have always been pleased.
The orange car in my sig was prepped and taken to a local in and out painter. That's a 400 dollar paint job and it's 12 years old. More than good enough for my daily driver. If I was showing it, I'd go for a better painter and better prep.

A few of my buddies have taken cars to maaco and I saw alot of over spray on their cars. So if you don't want it painted take it off or mask it yourself. It looked like they did a decent job of laying the paint down though.
i got my jeep done at a busy maacos and its a junk job.
i have clear coat coming off right now like its flaking off.
theres overspray everywhere and i had to take it back a week after i got it to take care of paint bubbles that is back now.
im sure it depends on the location
the closest one is junk, they have pics of some old classics they have done and they look good. but im sure they didnt do the prep.

DO NOT GO TO MAACO! lol just my oppinion. i took my '68 there and it is the crappiest job ever. first of all they had it for like 4 months, THEN after i got it i had to take it back and they re-painted it (another month or so, give/take a little),they "said" they color sanded it, and it still looks like crap. there is lint and chips of things everywhere, i looks like a freaking mine field. sorry but i guess i just needed to vent that out. but seriously i am pretty pi$$ed.
paint work is just like anything else. you get what you pay for. if you pay them $400 for a paint job, it will look like crap. if you pay them $5000 grand it will look a lot better. I had my 92 mustang painted buy them, i took all the trim, headlights, and windows out. they prepped it and painted it. it cost me $450 dollars. It was a really good paint job for 450. i had a lot of people tell me thy could not believe maaco painted it. i guess what i am trying to say is. i have see award winning show cars painted at are local maaco but the people paid more than $500.
