Default transmission problem

If I park on a fair sized incline (say 30 degrees), put the transmission in Park and then take my foot of the brake without engaging the emergency brake the car will roll and produce a clicking sound...its as if its not completely engaged in P and is slipping.

Is my transmission f'ed or is is this just an adjustment of some kind?

sounds like an adjustment issue.

are you using the stock shifter or an after market one with a cable.

I have the same issue. It turns out my C-4 was pulled from a console shift car. I have to replace the little arm that comes out of the transmission and attaches to the connector doohickey. I can't think of the name of it for the life of me. You have the shifter that drops down through the floor in your car. The shifter connects to the shifter linkage, then the shifter linkage connects to the part I'm talking about and goes into the transmission. If you PM me I'll email you a pic of what I'm talking about. On a console shift C-4, the arm is shorter and points at a slightly different angle which mechanically prevents me from fully engaging park. I'm probably not making any sense. Good luck anyways.

It's either an adjustment issue (as discussed).... or your internal to the transmission parking pawl lever is worn/broke.

Theres a mechanism in the trans you need to look at if you deduce that the shifter is properly adjusted see the attached page:
