Happens a lot, but I suppose it doesn't help that I'm female. Yes, even at 2 or 3 in the morning when I'm practically tripping over myself to just gas up, get back in the freakin' car and bust outta there before something bad happens. Most people are really nice, though...or at least funny. I've heard some great stories over the years and it's always nice when someone's admiring my jalopy. Makes me feel like going home and putting in more time on it.

 

Well, I can't drive it now, but I have people tell me stories from when they were in high school and the had a stang or one of their friends had one. I love these stories, but at times people get a little long winded.

 

the last time i got anoyed was about had just gotten off ,i was going to get drinks for a party, i get out of my car,tired me goes and slams my thumb in my door!. hurts. so i franticly go to open my door, only to see that, as im in the habit of doing, door is locked! [:@]fumble round in pocket to find keys, get keys into stupid sticky lock and FINALLY get my thumb out. (OW)
about then, i see this red and yellow car comming in. the guy pulls up, says the whole small town thing "ohh so that YOUR car!"
I say yes it is while trying not to curse it all the same. we end up talking for long time. this guys 74roadrunner is only 1 of 3 that were made, one of which was crashed. so thats cool, he had a lot of good stories, liked itbut I JUST WANTED TO GET MY DRINKS AND A PAPER CLIP so i could fix my thumb!.

Is yours a 73? My uncle has a 73 vert that has a guillotine for a door handle (on the inside). I took a HUGE chunk of my thumb off one day just trying to get out the car.

Try this the next time you go for a drive. Pull out the door handle,hold it out,and feel how sharp the back edge is. My uncles honestly felt like a knife. Be careful not to get your thumb caught in there. Hurts just thinking about it.

I have no problem with people looking at my car or talking ot me about it. Im so excited to have it that I probably annoy THEM b/c I keep talking.

 

For me I love the stories. Had a lady at a stop light sit and talk to me through the green, nobody behind us really so she just kept talking. Its interesting how people are able to see a car and have their mind take them somewhere different. I love listening to their stories.

yup mines a 73. my inner door handles are the square shaped kind that you pull in twoards the car. proably the same. ill have to check that out. never know when i might have to threaten somone!

 

I dont really have that problem, I just leave them sitting in my dust when people do that. It bugs me too though, its like you are a rare specimen or something.

Honestly, I don't mind people stopping to talk to me about my car, but sometimes Im in a hurry, and its like, "Ok, thanks for the comments, Im glad you like it, but I have to go, See you around." The one thing that annoys more than anything else is when somebody tries to act like they know all about your car, but they don't know jack about anything pertaining to any car, much less yours.

Also whensome guy stops you on a regular basis to ask for a "full workup" on the car. Its the same guy that stopped you the week before, and the week before that, and everytime he asks the same questions and makes the same assumptions, and is wrong everytime. Oh well, I guess you can take them to school, but you cant make them learn.

 

It's part of owning something cool and classic. I haven't had many times that I didn't like talking about it... hehe... I feel the same thing about people whining about other men looking at their girl friends or wives... I don't want either that knowones like to look at.. LOL

 

I was in at the body shop last week and a guy and his wifepulled in, in a 65 fastback. He put a 5.0 in it and had a bad knock, turned out someone driving it, he said his kid, over reved it and bent a valve. While I was checking out progress on my car, she was talking up a storm with me, and mine isn't even painted or running. It was cool though, the 65 was her's. I think her husband was annoyed. Oh well.
