this might be considered OT but it really only pertains to the classics, do any of you guys ever get annoyed with people stopping to look at your car and chat, i mean i love it that people admire my car and i really do enjoy hearing their stories from when they had a classic in high school, but i think there is a time and a place for it, i had some guy stop and talk to me for like 20 minutes at freaking 2:00 AM at kwik star. i had just gotten off work and had to stop and get gas (only took the stang cause the truck had a flat tire) i was really tired and all i wanted to do was to go home and sleep before i had to be at my other place of work at 6:00 AM (i currently work three jobs), unfourtunatly im a nice guy and i didnt want to tell the guy **** off im not in the mood, so i stood there and listened to him and told him about the car when he asked, idk i just thought i would see if that ever happens to any of you

 

It does to me. But I am in High School so I really enjoy listening to some of them. Others you just want to walk away from them.

...It's one of the 'hidden costs' involved in owning a classic car....

I will tell people "nice car", or something like that in passing....but I make it a point NOT to 'chat them up' in front of the bank/store/gas staion. I know they are just out running errands, just like I am. And ifI wantedto talk about cars,with another car guy, I'll go online, or go toa car show...

People are usually nice to talk to.

The last time a guy approached me and started to talk about my car ended up asking me for spare change.

 

no its just that I dont get that many people brave enough to talk to me. Im a rather unapproachable prince of darkness looking guy I guess[&:]

Yeah, I get a lot of those types of people, so I try to keep conversation short.

What bugs me more are the people that ask me if I want to sell it...when they clearly have no idea what it's really worth, let alone would I sell it to them even if they had the money. I've lost count of how many times the loser alcoholics that live across from my mom's house have asked me if I want to sell it, or if I want to race with their daughter's 03 GT (which has nothing but a crappy exhaust and massive, ugly chrome rims).

 

I havn't had too many people do that to me yet, but it's happened. I can see that after a certain point its like "okaaayyyyy when are you going to stop talking" but other than that the small talk and comments are fine.

One thing I do get annoyed with is when people totally gawk at me and my car while driving, sometimes is cool and flattering, but when someone is pacing you by your side just staring at you its very odd and uncomfortable... hahaha

 

i dont mean to say i dont like talking to people about it, just not at 2 in the morning
