Default carb choke

Another stupid question. How do I know if my present 289 2bbl has manual or elctric choke as I want to upgrade to a 4bbl? Not looking to race just want some more power.

Default RE: carb choke

take a picture with the aircleaner off. that will help identifying the carb.
one from the top and one from passenger side and one from driver side

the choke is on the other side of the carb of the throttle linkage (at least on all carbs I know).
so it should be passenger side of carb.

there are 3 types of choke:
a) manual
this is a simple cable controlled from inside of car to the carb
b) heat riser
this has a line coming from the exhaust manifold to carb, but you can't be sure if anyone removed it.
You can identify it as a big round plastic cylinder on the side of the carb with no electrical connections.
c) electric
looks like the heat riser version, but instead of getting hot air from manifold it has 2 electrical plugs

ohh and btw
if you upgrade from 2barrell to 4 barrell you will need a new intake manifold
something like edelbrock performer, or weiand action plus 8124 ...
