I have a 1967 that has a 289 2 barrell. It has a C4 automatic and I would like to upgrade to a 4 speed automatic and I was wondering what would be a good donor vehicle to pull one out of. I am not to familliar with bolt patterns between the years the block has been made so I am not sure of the transmission that would bolt up to it.

96,97, and 98 V-6 Mustangs use the 4R70W tranny that will mate a 289. Electronic but doable and programable.
Much stronger than the old AOD

 

I wondered about that 4r70w for my car too...
