Default Media Blasting and body work

Car is finally going in to get the body worked on. The guy estimated 6 hours @ $50 an hour. I think thats reasonable. Called another place who sells media blasting supplies to a shop just down the street from the body shop, they want $1600 to blast the entire car. Everything on the car. That seems about $600 too high. Both places come highly recommended and I guess there is also a guy that is an awesome painter that works at the media blasting place. Thoughts?

My cars previous previous owner ran it into a tree/light pole/wall/something and screwed up the left side fender area completely. The shock tower was slightly twisted. Me and my dad did not notice this til after we welded in new inner fender aprons. So this guy is gonna hopefully fix the shock tower, reweld the aprons in and make sure everything lines up perfectly.

I would shop around some more. You should be able to get it blasted for around 500.

I dunno, that sounds about right for the price, at least for around my area. Thats how much the shop i go to said they would do my 72 for, $600, the entire body.

The body work is coming first, but since the blasting shop is down the street we were thinking of killing two birds with one stone. But the price seemed a bit too high for me. We could rent a soda blaster, but Id much rather have it done with glass beads.

I paid$500 for the entire car. Body, engine bay, under carriage. The car was completely stripped down though which made the blaster's life much easier. It deosn't take a lot of skill to blast a car, pretty It is a good idea to try and find a shop that you can become friends with the owners/workers who are doing the car. It is much easier to establish a working/business relationship with these guys because for me, I have "added" a bunch of little stuff along the way. Going in shooting the breeze makes the experience that much better, especially when you are dropping a lot of cash on a paint job.
