brake hoses ..
alright so i have a '65 vert, 289 2V with 4 wheel drums (non power).
i was wondering what a good kit is if any of you have upgraded to them? I still have the 43 yr old rubber hoses on my and they have some slight dry rot and i just dont feel to safe using them.
i was looking at the kit www.cjponyparts.com has
just trying to decide how much of the other brakes lines to look into replacing

If you are planning on keeping it 4 wheel drums, why spend alot of money to replace the rubber lines... and still have drum brakes. Ifyou don'twant to upgrade to disc, then go to a local parts store and order factory replacement hoses.
If I was going to throw a bunch of moneydown,it would have calipers after the work instead of wheel clinders if you catch my drift

ive thought of putting disc brakes but i am wanting to keep it original mostly. its been in the family since '72 so i dont want to go changing a bunch of stuff on it especially when its a good 90% original.
the stainless set of hoses is $75 where id be spending $50-65 on a set of factory replacement rubber lines.
arizona car so it was repainted in the 70s & seats were recovered due to teh sun other then thats its all original metal with ZERO rust due to never seeing snow or salt and always being garage kept 29k original miles.
also, after the brake hoses im changing the shocks & tie rods. after that im not touching a single thing on the car unless it breaks becuase it doesnt need anything.

But if its 90% orginal, then just put original parts back on it. It isn't like the stainless lines are going to be any better, I mean heck, you aren't running 6 piston calipers and street racing the thing. The rubbers will be just fine and hold up for a long time. If you don't want to go changing stuff, why put aftermarket brake lines on an otherwise bone stock braking system? It doesn't make any sense. Besides, it will save you 25 bucks, enough to get one of those shocks you want to replace.
I know what its like to have an orginal car, mine was 100% original, and was restored to the factory specs throughout. A damn nice car. But to me, stock isn't much fun, I wanted something fast, so now I have a billy bad *** 347, built C4, and 8.8 Rearend, with 4 wheel power disc brakes. However, I stil have all of the stock parts, so it can be put back if I ever chose to do so (which ther is about a 99.99999% chance I never will). Its worth more to me the way it is right now.
My point here is that if you don't want to change much, don't change anything, if you change one thing, you might as well change twenty. Keep the original style hoses on it. A car in the shape you describe will be worth more if its kept original.
