Are you running a serpentine belt setup or V-Belts? You should be able to get a pump for a 90 model Mustang with a 302, and it should bolt on (302 & 351W pumps are the same)as long as the timing cover is for a reverse pump, and not a standard one. They are different between standard and reverse rotation pumps.

ON a serpetine setup the water pump runs in reverse due to the s shape route of the belt between the crank and water pump pully.

A serp. belt has like 6 ribs and is flat looking, aboutan 1 1/4" wide, like a belt you would put around your waste. A v belt only has only one rib, and it like 3/8" to 1/2" wide.

If it's v belt, you cannot run a reverse rotation pump. Period. It will cause the pump to turn backwards! I said that about the timing cover. There are 2 different styles, one for standard roation, one for reverse rotation. If the pump will physically bolt on, and all of the holes are lined up, you have the correct cover.
