1965 headers advice

has anyone used these headers on a car with a cable clutch with any luck around the cable
hooker #6901HKR

I always had trouble with long tube headers and my cable. I tried wrapping the cable in heat protection (header wrap) and it helped some, but I eventually ended up buiding a hydraulic clutch setup.
