if you have to ask, and dont know what you are getting into ,...have a professional do it,..

can you weld? can you use cutting wheels and grinders? do you have metal clamps? if you have all the tools and a know how of welding, its not that bad

Floor pans, not a big deal, complete floor more of a big deal, frame rails a really big deal. If it isnt done right you wont get it aligned and the body wont line up either. Best way to do frame rails is get the car perfectly level on jack stands with the suspension hanging, as in not holding the car up anywhere. Measure everything across, diagonally and longitudinally twice. Take your time removing the rusted parts carefully, if they arent rusted dont mess with them.

After all that, pray that the car has never been hit or even put in a ditch. If you dont know how to weld sheetmetal as well as heavy gauge steel, dont have a decent shop to have the car torn completely down to a bare shell, or very near it, take it to someone and have it done. The engine/transmission has to come out to do a complete floor or any frame rail. If it doesnt the weight will move things around and you will never get it straight again.

Good luck.

Thanks Thumpin
Appriciate your help. I only have to replace the rear frame rails so i think i can take care of it my self.
i was quoted 1500 to replace the both frame rails (i already cut out the trunck area) do you think that is a reasnable price?
i do have experience welding so im pretty confident i can handle this with the right amount of help.

do you know of any sites where they walk you through it step by step?

thanks again

Default rear frame rails

1500 seems a bit high for no more than it takes to do them. If you have welidng skills and some time it is really no big deal. I have done 2 sets now and they both came out fine. I am a novice at best! The cars both went down the road straight as an arrow. Attached are some pics of what I started with as well as some from along the way. I probably took me a total of 15 hours start to finish.
