Try Harbor Freight. I don't have 1st hand experience but I am sure I have seen them there. They also do mail order if you don't have a location near you.

Did you try your local NAPA, Auto Zone, Pep Boys etc?

+ 1 on Harbor freight. they have 1000lb rated stands for about 40-50 bucks. Made in china but good qual for the price. I just bought one a few months ago. Rebuilding my 289 right now. For a 289 1000lb is more than enough.

I am not aware of any engine stand that will hold engine and tranni. A traditional stand mounts to the back of the engine, so won't work with tranni. I know the make engine cradles, but you cant rotate the block to work on it and you would prob have to rangle something to support the trani if you went that route.
Good luck.

Ill sell you one for $30 if your around San Diego..

I got mine from Kragen. It worked well.. I dont know if I will need it again though.. at least not for a while.. It will not work with the tranny though.. It bolts up to the bell housing holes in the block.

Check it out online at autozone or kragen.. Local places will usually allow you to order online and pick up in store for a little cheaper.. Shoot for 30-45 bucks..
