Default Instruments on Dash

Hi
I want to start working on getting my instruments working on the dash. Indicator lights, speedometer and odeometer dash lights are working but the other instruments eg. fuel and water temp do not read at all. Is there any obvious things to check first. Where should i start and what will i look for.

Well, I would ground the wire at the temp or gas sender and turn the key on. If the gage go to the high side, it's a sender issue. If not you may want to check the instrument voltage reg...behind the dash. I believe you should see a "pulsing" 5 volts at that location.

for the speedometer I would first make sure it's connected to both the back of the gauge and the trans if so the gear on the cable might be bad.

Try making sure the fuse is good. its a 14 amp one on the top of the block.
