Question Changing steering wheel

Hi,

I currently have a grant steering wheel, which excels in suckiness. I swear, this is the biggest mistake I ever made.

To replace it, I bought a repo 65 pony wood grain steering wheel. I've never changed a steering wheel. Will I need a steering wheel puller? Will the '65 wheel fit?

BTW, it's a '69 restomodded coupe with appointments from other classic years. The only aftermarket parts on the car are the Cragars, the tach, the carb, and the crapola steering wheel.

Thanks for any repiles.

Carlos

You will need a steering wheel puller.

That's definitely the easy way to do it, although I've heard of people whacking it backwards with their hands while sitting in the driver's seat. Usually the stories end up with a busted nose

there really isnt much to it.

If the steering wheel is new(ish) you can probably just move the center bolt and tap it a few time and it should come off..

Ten bucks, and you'll have it forever.

Make sure the new wheel seats and is TIGHT.

Love the look of my Grant and the fact thats its real wood not plastic. But I agree its a PIA. My wheel puller is one of the most used tools in my garage.
