Default Brake Lights... Shorted?

Is it possible that my brake wiring has a short somewhere even if i haven't touched it or messed with it? Its in a sheathed bundle leading to the rear of the car, hasnt been cut or anything whatsoever. Bad Ground? Where is the ground for the brake lights located?

Yes, it is possible to get a short without touching anything. Wires rub on metal and cause shorts. I believe that the ground for them is in the trunk along the rear rail. What is the problem you are having with them?
