Default electric fans

I'm installing dual electric fans, can I hook the 10 gauge power wire to the circuit breakers then to the solenoid or do I need to run the wire all the way to the trunk where the battery is? Thank you.

your going to use a circuit breaker???You also need some type of relay and switch, either manual or temp comtrolled. You can grap ther power from either the hot side of solenoid or battery then to the switch, relay and then the fuse and then fan.

Yes, you need a relay, and a fuse I would say, but solenoid si fine, IF the gauge you used from the battery to the solenoid is adequate.

I agree - tap off the solenoid post instead of running wire to the trunk - running a long wire/cable would result in a small but needless resistance/voltage drop over that length of cable/wire... assuming, of course, that the cable to the solenoid from the batttery is appropriate.

I also agree with having both a fuse/circuit breaker and relay... with a dual fan you may want to look into the SPAL thermostat/relay that can regulate dual fan activity based upon engine temperature... this is reported to extend the life of the fan.

in any case i'd rather replace an existing wire from the trunk with a proper one than routing a 2nd. But I agree very much to fusing it separately
