Sequential Led Tail Lights....just installed
So I found that people were getting a little too close for comfort during daytime driving.....so I ordered this kit on ebay. Made by mustangproject.com....I ordered the brightest one they had, 115 leds on each side. Kit came with pretty simple instructions. It said the lights were blatantly marked for left and right but I'll be damned if i saw anything on there lol. [edit...I just saw the little resistor(?) under either left or right .....how did I miss that lol.]
One thing that sucked was they used SOLID wires (why???)....stranded is ideal for soldering as far as I'm concerned. I actually had one of the signal wires coming from the socket break off while unwrapping the wires....I was so pissed but I wasn't about to send it back and wait another week. On top of that it didnt break at the solder joint like I thought it would, but rather where some genius used a wire stripper to skin the insulation off. Great....except that they went one size too small and put a deep bite mark in the copper which made it really weak. I soldered it back together but I mean c'mon people.
Here's some pics and a little vid of them working. Not really a write up, cause it's so simple, but I suppose it could help somebody out if they needed a visual. The one tool that made this job really easy was a 11/32 hollow shaft nutdriver. Mine is a klein electrician's nutdriver and boy it was a breeze removing and re-installing the tail housings with it.
I forgot to take pics of the led install, got carried away hehe.
The whole kit.

Here's the old turn signal flasher I removed.

New flasher module, plugs right in.

Taped up just in case.

Screwing it back on.

Left is the original incandescent.......right is the new led tail. I love it!!

And finally here's a video of them working. **NEW VIDEO** no license plate now lol.

I feel much safer on the road now.

I installed these very lights about a year ago, and they are nice and bright, not glary. The sequential bars on turns is cool but in LA most people don't know what those flashing red lights are on cars anyway. Some people think it means the driver has a VM message.

Cool, glad you guys like em. I will be inclined to use my signal at every opportunity now
Haha same deal in Fla man...at least old people don't make up 85% of your drivers lol.
I was on the fence about getting them but what sold me was the safety factor, and the wattage. They draw almost nothing. I'm going to load test the car today with my ammeter and post what I got. To bad I forgot to check the old lamps first.

These are at the top of my Christmas list for my car. MrBobMarley, I love your car I was originally looking at the 67-68 fastback bodystyles with the turn signals in the hood when I found my 69.
I had already decided to go with the Mustang Project LED's. Those look great btw.
Thanks for the post and the video. Makes it easier to know what to ask for this Christmas.
Oh and safety was a big issue for me. Not only did I want people to see my taillights but I did not want them to hit me and put my car back in the shop.

MrBobMarley,
Not to take your thread off topic but how do your speakers sound in the door?
I have been contemplating if I wanted kickpanels (which would probably block the bright light switch on the floorboard) or if I should just have a center console custom built to hold the speakers in the center of the car under the dash.
