I had close to a $48,000 claim with Hagerty, and the checks arrived as promised. If they gave it to me in writing, I would have no problem letting them take the car.

Are they giving you the agreed value?

Evidently, Hagerty is in Michigan. They must contract someone locally to come and write up a claim. They told me the local adjuster is not authorized to write me a check.

Same BS with the tow company. Someone called me on Saturday, saying Hagerty contacted him about picking up the car. He said he'd be by in 1-3 days to pick it up. I left the house for a few hours yesterday (Sunday). When I got home, the Mustang was gone. No phone call, no note, nothing. Whoever took it doesn't have a set of keys for it. For all I know, it could have been stolen.

Wowwww are you kidding me? Your car is gone?! I sincerely hope you've left a few messages for your adjuster by now. I would seriously knock some skulls for that one....thats unreal.

Hagerty is agency, not the insurance company. Don't feel bad, all the so-called collector car insurance companies are nothing more than agencies.

The underwriter will pay the bill. You are correct, the underwriter will generally use a local adjuster, at least in my case that is what they did.

Have you called Hagerty to find out about the car? I am shocked that someone would take it without your permission. The positive, you have the title.

i think its more so the fact that they are towing the car and want the signed title before they will pay him.

then they will most likely sell it off and make back 75% of what they paid him in insurance $$

id be upset no matter what. they dont have a right to remove the car from your possesion until the claim is settled.

thats BS. ive totaled a mustang before and id be livid if they just took the car, and my claim took two months to settle,

insurance companies are a joke sometimes, my dad worked for one, they totaled my 01 gt vert because they said it would cost to muich in labor to fix because they would have to replace my carpet and my seats when i got hit in the front.
