Unhappy A little help ...

I hope im doing this right.. i am trying to skim coat the panels with body filler and block it all out for a perfectly straight look.. my dilemma is that metal spots still remain in patches in the quarter. This is a repop piece so it isnt not wrecked or damaged so i dont feel that i need to do some serious hammering on the high spots. I am using durablocks with 180 grit adhesive paper. i was told i want a micro film amount of body filler left on the panels. what am i doing wrong here? am i right to think that i shouldnt have any metal showing through the bondo? could i be using the wong size blocks?

Not sure if i am correct or not, as i am in the same place you are. But i have been told, once the body filler is on and sanded to your liking that primer will cover blemishes and high build will fill, then sand high spots and fill low spots. BTW don't use bondo, get your self a premium body filler.

if it feels smooth then youre done. but you have to know the feel with your hand. if theres some round metal high spots, then tap them with a body hammer to get em down. then use filler if needed.

I am using Rage extreme body filler by the way, great stuff sands easily with the
1 foot long durablock sanders.

Ok so i guess im saying with the rage body filler blended but still feel smooth like glass with metal showing there is no need to cover the bare metal with filler again?

Hit it with a dark primer and look at it. If it has waves then you have to deal with either lowering the high spots or raising the low spots. Until then you are only guessing.
