Default My day off project

I had last Friday and today off.

My exhaust on the car is in really sad shape. When you bump into one of the pipes it sounds like rain from the rust falling off, LOL!

A guy I know runs a restoration type shop and is restoring a '65 for someone. The car is looking really bad a** by the way. One thing they decided to change was the exhaust going for a flowmaster set up.

So they had the factory style exhaust that I bought off of him for not much.

The exhaust was in really good shape with only some light surface rust on the welded joints, etc.

So today I wire wheeled it then sprayed it with some high heat paint.

And here is the result after painting.

Only step left for me now is to install it on the car. Not a real fancy addition but will do for now and in a lot better shape than what I got and at the price I really can't complain. It is pretty much exactly like what is on the car now minus the rust, LOL!

I would have assumed the pipes were not original but the weird thing is I noted a somewhat worn stamp on the pipes that reads "Fmco 200 Alum 34713". My thinking is the exhaust was a reproduction of "factory like" exhaust that the PO's had added in the last couple of years but have to admit that stamp sure made me wonder. It appears the PO's of the car my contact is restoring that the exhaust came off of were real all original types as much as possible...funny really because the people my contact is working for paid a lot for the car and the first thing they did was strip it for all kinds of modifications and now the car is not original in many ways but is still totally breath taking type nice.
