69 roof conversion
Deals can be had but you will probably have to travel to get them. A guy in another forum found this R Code (428) Mach 1 for $4500 about 2 weeks ago.

It came with all the body panels , interior etc, but didn't have the original 428 - it had a 351 with it. Often people get bogged down during restoations and want to get out of them. In two weeks he flipped it, looking like this, for $8100.

There are deals out there just be patient. Join a Mustang club, members are a great source.

If you really want a fastback/sportsroof (I'm in denial over the sportroof tag). Save up and buy one. As everyone has stated look for deals online and through Mustang Clubs. Check the Mustang Websites.
I could have bought a 69 coupe for 2k less than what I paid for my sportroof, and I have put several thousands of dollars in it since I bought it in April already (due to a bad inspection), but it's a rust free body which will save me thousands on bodywork alone. Did I get a great deal? Not really after evaluating the inspection report, but I still think I got a good deal since the body is rust free and it IS a sportroof.
Like everyone says if you really want one watch for deals and be patient.

You won't find people with expensive on this most of us know its a money pit to even try this.Would you buy a coupe made in to a sport roof for 15k or a real sport roof for 12k.I rather own a coupe they weight less there cheap its still a mustang and there is a lot you can do to them.
