Headers - Which kind, how to install?
Hey guys.
Im in the middle of dressing up my engine compartment and my exhaust manifolds are old and rusted. I have a budget for headers at about 100-200 bucks.
questions:
Which type of headers would you recommend for a 1967 289 coupe?
Can I install them myself? (I have a a basic mechanics knowledge)
(I have manual steering) Do I have to lift the engine to install them?
Anything else I should know?
Thanks

I got Tri-Y's from cjpony parts for 125 came with all the harware and gaskets, I was able to drop them in from the top on my 69 coupe with a 302, but I don't know for you 67 sholdn't be much different. The only thing is you will have to weld the collectors and modify your exhaust if you go with long tube headers.
No I had to weld the collectors to the pipes are the adapters that connect the headers to the exhaust pipes. Your current exhaust manifolds which are small in diameter and only have two bolts connecting them to the pipes, but headers are larger and have three bolts connecting them to the pipes. This is where the collectors come in, they mate the pipes to the headers. They should be welded, but you could clamp them if your really had to until you are able to weld them, but I would not go to long like this. Do you have stock exhaust?
Im positive I dont have headers. The manafolds are in terrible shape.
I dont know If I have an H Pipe, I'll have to look tomorrow when it's daylight.
