Correct. My 67 doesn't have them. Friend's 68 doesn't either.

Back in the days before internet when getting parts meant picking through junkyards, I'm thinking a previous owner got a full set of 67 hub caps since they couldn't find the one orig 68 that flew off your car. Ford didn't use incorrect hubs.

The orig rocker panel molding should go well to well. Wheel opening molding was a dealer option (standard on my 69 Grande). Even if you had it, it only takes ¼" space between the wheels.

I THINK the wheelbase of a FB, Coupe and Vert are the same, so you either have 65-66 molding or a bad repo.

If you want to be really, really authentic, rocker panel mouldings, door sills, and some window mouldings were brushed chrome, not the polished, shiny chrome you get when you by the repo parts. You can always hit the chrome with some steel wool or 1500 grit to get the same effect. It will also give it the patina of a clean but 40 year old part and look original.

If you DO get the proper molding, make sure you use all the clips given. The molding should be tight against the roaker panel, or you will eventually kick it off as your foot goes right there when you exit the car.

I have a book with reprints of Mustang Ads for '68. In the photos that show a car with rocker mouldings, the car also has wheel well mouldings.

Maybe your car did not come with the wheel well mouldings, but to me, they look great! Check for existing holes on the inside of the wheel well edges. I'll bet they are there!

Here's a photo of Standard '68 hubcaps.

The rocker moulding should be centered between the wheel wells. This one is a little too far back.

Carlos, Rocker Mouldings, and Door Sill Plates are Aluminum - not Chrome.

If you are keeping those, I think little too far back looks good and not really noticeable.

My friends in our Mustang Club have a '67 Convertible with '68 Styled Steel Wheels on it. They had them in their barn when they bought their car, so they put 'em on. They look great!
