Default Headlight ground question

I am finishing the odds and ends on the stang.

I installed my headlights and they dont light up. I came to the conclusion that it ia a **** poor ground. also there is a little tail that comes off of the ground wire for the light plug. does that go somewhere or is it for a light package that my 66 coupe does not have.?

Also the high beam light is on and wont go off???????????
Whats that about

The high beam light dash indicator staying on is the clue that you indeed do not have a proper ground. The electrical circuit is searching and finding its own ground through the high beam indicator circuit. I had a similar problem long ago, when I was bolting parts back on my Mach. I couldn't figure out why the lighting circuit was not operating properly. It turned out that I had to have my bumpers on the car because part of the lighting circuit used the bumper as the ground. So make sure "all" parts are bolted on and any wires that were once connected to these parts is reconnected. I spent a month looking at the wiring schematic trying to figure this thing out. And I use electrical schematics almost everyday and was still not "seeing" what was right in front of my face. Then one day it hit me and my problem was rectified in 10 minutes. Good luck.

WOw thnak you.

the one part that is not on the fron end is the bumper. other than that it is complete. i will get the bumper on and see what happens. Problem is i did not take thae car apart. my brother did. so i need to find out where those ground pigtails went too. i will search the diagram again.
