Depends on what engine you have. My 67 is my DD and I have the 6cyl. I just found out with my 2v carb tuned I can get 100 miles to every 1/4 tank of gas.

I wouldn't consider mine a dd but I do occasionally drive it to work, or to run quick errands. I work about 35 min from where I live. I try to use it every other week, like today my dd radiator hose torn and guess what I will be driving tomorrow to work. Just some advice something is going to go wrong from time to time, until it is completely reliable. I wouldn't completely rely on just the mustang. about the millage I don't know neither my fuel gage or odometer work.

Mines a daily driver when the roads are clear. Over the winter it sits under a cover in the driveway with fuel stabilizer in the tank and coolant mixed to stand -40 temps. Every once in a while when the weather breaks I'll brush off the cover and start it up for 20 minutes. I have no problems in the spring.

I have dd mine for about the last 8 years...no problems but its not stock...Disc brakes, fully upgraded street suspension, new c4 trans....swapped for a t5 5 speed manual, new motor when i got the car, MSD ignition system all the way around dizzy to a6 box and wires.

Really reliable and easy to fix but I take good care of her as well.

I get a steady 12 MPG. I have a 302 v8 / 650cfm 4v, 3.50 gears. Stock 289 v8 w 2bbl carb would average in the high teens/20 mpg, give or take 5 mpg. Figure your commute in dollars both in the Mustang and another vehicle with better mpg, and the decision will be easy; depending on how long your commute/gas budget is, you might opt to only take the Ford on Fridays, and make it an extended weekend car.

My car is a DD since 1991. I average 15,000 miles a year, 50/50 city and freeway driving. It's a great DD because it's easy to maneuver in city traffic and park for quick stops. You also have enough power to jump on the freeway when you want.

Also, the car is relatively easy to maintain. Parts that wear are as easily accessible as any car.

I wouldn't drive anything else.

I put about 35k a year on mine, and it'll get around 22mpg highway if I drive easy, no overdrive either.

i drove mines daily until i started feeling unsafe because of no disc brakes, manual everything. i put a AOD to help me on the highways. now im putting power everything including disc brakes.

i would def. upgrade my suspension and braking. power steering is a need but it will drain your energy.

pimp is right. There are some minor upgrades that go into making your Mustang a better DD.

Steel belted radials, front disc brakes, sway bars, traction masters, and a tranny cooler were just some of the inexpensive add-ons I applied so my car would respond more like a modern car for daily driving. Actually, the items I mentioned are now standard equip in most cars.

Well i drive my 72 every day... i get about 9 city and 15 hwy but i have a heavy foot... 302 with a Air Gap intake, 4bbl and long tubes... it still uses points, stock suspension and just about everything else is stock (power steering and brakes where original)... most of my parts are stock and have never been replaced and have 36 years and 179000 miles on them... yea she squeaks and leaks but i guess thats part of her charm lol anyways most people still like my old car and its never hard to find in the parking lot, plus since i got the bugs worked out she has not let my down... been about a year and a half and no problems
