Never had anyone ask if my parents bought it for me, they always just ask where I got it. When I tell them it was my mom's car in high school (she and her two sisters all got mustangs, but they don't have them anymore) they are all surprised.

normally iI'll just be like "wow, nice car. is it yours?"

I get the same thing, even with the mustang. working on the chevelle once the mailman made the "aw, daddy is letting his boy work on his car!"

You should have let the dog loose...and then stole his wallet.

When I owned my 69 (before they were classics) I used to replace that damned chrome strip about twice a year. The local Ford garage always had them in stock. They were about $2.50 as I recall. In all fairness I flattened about half of them myself, including one when I drove into a parking sign while watching a girl in hotpants (you whippersnappers ask your father or some guy in his 50s what those were -early 1970s). Mustangs have never been known for being able to take a hit, or a bump.

Not too much has happened with me while parking, because I rarely park it in public spaces. I just used to drive it to school and then just out and bout here and there.

I just always get the people talking to me at gas stations, one lady was like talking about how she used to have one blah blah and wanted to hear it start up so she waited until i left. It was kind of awkward because she's just staring as I'm doing my business and then leave. The main thing I was thinking was "I hope it starts on the first try". Heck I was just hoping it would start! well it did and her jaw dropped

I was also at the gas station with my dad once (he was buying me gas ) and a guy was talking to us and he kept on addressing my dad (even though I stepped out of the drivers seat) so my dad was like "ask my son, its HIS car" hahaha. I still haven't gotten the ***** that said "is that daddy's car?" or anything like that though. I'm sure it will happen though since it still looks like I'm 15 years old.

I also got a bunch of people stop at my house and get out of their car and ask if I want to sell it. Meanwhile I'm just trying to finish my car and they keep bugging me about it and won't leave. Also just people that shout from the street if I want to sell it, but they don't bother me nearly as much.

As long as you own that Mach 1, people will stop you to tell you how they had "that car" when they were younger, and how they wish they had it now.

Don't ever become one of those people. A 1969 Mach 1 is your first car? Keep it forever. When you don't want to drive it anymore, store it. It will be a great weekend car one day.

Many of us wish we had our first car; especially if we restored it ourselves.

Actually, I still have mine, lol.

I once had a Mexican offer me $10k for my car, needless to say I laughed in his face as politely as I could.
