I know some paints cover better than others and their should be a rating on the coverage. On my 66 it took almost two gallons of base to get good coverage. It was Western Automotive and it was crap. Almost like spraying colored water. Following the base, I used a gallon of clear and this was a Vert! I did paint under the hood and deck lid and that will add up to several more square feet. It did in the end come out very good, still I think a gallon should have been enough if it was good quality. I learned to stay with the name brands. The local auto parts store recommended this crap and I haven't bought anything else from those bozos since. On the "E", I used less than a gallon of base and had some left over. I did put 4 coats of clear and had to bum some of a friend (less than a quart).

well there is a "rating" depending on the color you choose you select the correct sealer so you dont have that problem. for example you want to paint a dark dark blue over a factory white paint job you use a dark sealer etc

rmodel that looks great. Now only if you could fix that damn hole in your pants! LOL!! My paint job use 4 gallons of material. I suppose that is why the cost was as high as it was and I had to buy all of it. No free ride here, dang it!

I don't guess theirs any reason to worry, if you gotta have it, you gotta have it. Today I spent about 200 bux on acid etch primer and 2K. Now the fun begins. I have always liked enamels, but the base/clears are much easier to correct mistakes. "Rmodel65", your paint looks great. I have ran into coverage issues before. It seems some colors cover better than others. Reds are the most expensive and also the most popular. I'm sick of Red (that is in my garage, I have 3 Red cars) but Rmodel65 and EFI, the Reds (or Candyapples) you guys have on your cars is outstanding. Today I was able to get the car in etching primer. My friend said that we need to throw in some "Silver Sparkles" and clear it over, and someone would like it! I'm not sure.
