Default How much did you spend on paint?

Living in nowhere theirs only two places in town that sell paint. They both sell crap so I will have to drive 40 miles or so to find anything good, like PPG or Dupont. Anyway, its been a couple of years since I've bought paint and was wondering how much it has gone up and if the price varies in different areas. Somehow I get the feeling I'm about to be violated. Oh yeh, Blue is the color (base-clear).

My paint was just over $1,000 for PPG non-metallic, base (1/2 gallon for primary, 1 pint for the stripe - it gets reduced 50/50 so you end up with twice as much), clear, reducer, and hardner for the clear. That was last year and most prices have gone up. Yeah, you will walk funny for a while!

Wow, I feel like you guys are paying too much. I took an autobody repair class and my teacher said I could get paint for like $200? Then another maybe 100 for clear. The labor involved is the expensive part of paint, not the paint itself.

I'm painting a 68 Firebird and I'm looking at about 600 for primer, sealer, base and clear.

Yeah, snakes, I'd be walking funny from that one too. Did you do any price comparison?

I had a store price it to me (if you want to call it that) for about 900 bux for the top of the line stuff (base and clear). I also forgot that I will need a quart of White for the stripes. I may as well get ready.

How much paint does it usually take to cover a car? I am about to jump into this too and dont want to get shafted on prices.. Im going with dupont Sinful cinnamon base and quality clear.. maybe dupont. And probably a blacked out hood or even the entire top of the front end blacked out..

You guys got off cheap. I was charged a little over $2k for paint and primer. I did use House of Kolor and they tend to be a bit more expensive but the effects are worth it IMO.

a smaller car like a mustang can be done in about 3 quarts, but it also depends if you want to sand the base to nib any trash etc.
