Nope. The cranks are interchangeable as long as they're both designed for 2-piece rear main seals, but the rods and pistons are different.

Depends on the bore. Now when you get into rod length, that'll be another story

ok, heres what im thinking, since im getting a 289 with the new car, i was thinking of keeping it stock stroke and putting a weiand 174 roots on it. i would need forged pistons and probably some rods too, all ARP stuff etc etc, would i need a new crank or could i just get it turned and it would hold up to the power? but i just need to know what rods/pistons i need to buy...

289/302 pistons are the same, crank and rods are not. If you're going to tear it apart to put new pistons in you might as well rebuild it. Not that much more $$ to make sure if the block needs bored and the crank and bearings are good. Just putting new pistons and rings in is not a good idea with boost. The weakest link with the stock rods are the bolts. HiPo 289 or aftermarket rods would be better but a good set of bolts will work. I dont think the 174 puts out much more than 5-6PSI. Dont put to much tension on the SC pulley

Gotcha. FWIW, the 289 rod length is 5.155 in. 302 is 5.090

If you're going that far, and you're balancing the assembly anyway, you could do a street 347 rotating assembly for not much more. It would add gobs of torque which is what makes a car fun to drive on the street.
