Default Door watershield Question

What kind of adhesive should I use to attach a new water shield to my doors and interior quarter panels? Some kind of RTV?

Thanks,

John

3m makes a strip caulk (not household caulk) that allows the watershields to be adhered and then peeled away for servicing inside the doors if needed, but then reinstalled without adding more caulk. The 3m strip caulk comes off quickly with 3m General Adhesive Remover. Advanced Auto or a similar chain should have the caulk and perhaps the remover.

Checkout NPD 2008 catalog page 239 "Bedding and Glazing Compound" 3M8509
Online catalog is here: http://npd.dirxion.com/Main.asp

I've also seen people use everything from duct tape to seem sealer.

What about butyl tape that they use on windshield installs. Is that the same as the gedding and glazing compound?

So, not a good idea to use the butyl tape?
