Default Rearend problem?

well tried to take the Mustang for a little drive to make sure its not over heating anymore. didnt get a couple feet down the street and it sounds like a squeeling thats coming from the rear end. Gets high pitched with speed and only happens while in motion? I was told maybe the wheel bearing for the u-joint? Any other options? Thanks

Wheel bearings are not the same as u-joints. Does it make a loud clunk when you put it in gear?

yeah but only when you put in in drive..it just kinda jumps forward..and then it is fine..but I put it up on jacks and spun the back wheels and it is coming from the passenger side and from where i can tell the noise is coming from the brakes so..brakes are rubbing?

Or wheel bearing. There is a bearing on the axle that rides in the housing.
You can pull the wheel and look at the brake pads to see if they're worn out and dragging.

sorry, typo on the 1st one. I meant either or. Brakes are rubbing a little bit. Talked to a couple people with more experience with the older cars and I may need to grease or replace the u joint. Probly going to start there since wheel bearings are a bitch usually. Thanks
