Awesome Jinx great work I'd be proud of it to.
Thanks I am proud... I'm gonna be that guy in 20 years whose kid is gonna be like, Dad can I take your "old" truck to school today(cause it will be old one day)...and I'll say ok. Coarse I will say no when he ask to take the stang [sm=badidea.gif]

edit: didnt see dans post...
Dan,
It's all good man... I've had lots of older people tell me they don't like it, and I've had lots of older people tell me they do like it... I remember one guy telling me, "You got a good looking little wagon there..." after he walked off I was thinking to myself wtf is a wagon its a truck, but I guess way back in the day they called em wagons cause of the open bed like a lil kids wagon has.

It seems like the opinions are kinda split on this subject. I'd say it's an age thing, but most of the cars I'm referring to are owned by older folks. So maybe it's just a taste thing.

As far as lighting laws go, they really aren't of great concern here. Its true that red and blue are considered illegal because they are reserved for emergency vehicles, and you need a permit to display them. But they are allowed to be on if you're not on the road (this is why the boxes usually say "for offroad use", or "for show use". This, however, does not stop anyone from cruising down the road with them on. Town cops are usually cool about it, but NJ Stateys won't let you get away with it.

Now I'm thinking I'll ask around the car show this weekend, and get their stories. BTW thats an insane sound system you got in that truck Jinxed!!!

Jeff you have one fine ride there. It's your baby you do what ever you want to do to it, thats what makes each and every car unique. If everyone would build their car to everyone elses liking the cars would all be the same. That would lead to total boredom and no one would go to car shows & cruises, all the cars would look alike. Please yourself you can never please everyone so don't try. You have awesome car so you know you are on the right track.

Thanks man...theres always so much competition between people my age with their cars that I rarely hear anything positive about it. I wasn't really looking for opinions on the undercar lighting because I'm planning on putting them on my car, but just because I was taken by suprise at how many classics I had seen with them. Like I said, if it's done tastefully enough, I have no problems. At this point in what I'm doing with my car, I'm not even really thinking about dressing it up like that. There are SEVERAL things that take priority over blue lights underneath my car, but I would have no problem putting a kit under there when I finish with everything else, despite whether or not other people think it OK. And I agree...everyones car is there own, and there aren't any rules dictating what they can and can't do with it.

Oh, man... That just hit me...
I'm the "older people" now!!!

Just curious - what age does one have to be before you youngsters consider them "older?"

Hi Kyle, hey I've never seen them there neon lighting on any type of car before, ya got any pics of them ? I've seen and have LED, Cold Cathode, and incandescent lamps in, on, and around my 1970 mach 1 I really hope my car don't disgust you too much, I'd really be upset for that to happen. You knew what i really like is the lamp oil they used on the old cars like the model A. I also like the light & sound given off from a LP gas discharged from the exhaust and ignited by a spark plug. Flame throwers, there 2 Kool. I don't have much time in life to be disgusted. I'm to busy enjoying life to its fullest. This letter is from an 55 year old gray haired Marine Corp Vetnam Vet that fight very hard to stay alive. When I slide up to the pearl gates or the gates of hell I will be able to yell this life was one fantasic RIDE !

Bob, I hope you didnt take what I said personal. The question was to state our opinion and I did. Even know I dont know what your car looks like with the neons on, all that matters is that you like it. You shouldnt care waht i think. Maybe it is just the age difference and difference in opinions. I also say it because I have seen beautiful classics ruined by such lights.

[soapbox] No, and you are right. But, there are unwritten rules among serious vintage mustangers. One of those mostly agreed on rules is to not rice up a vintage Mustang. Face it....putting lights underneath a vintage mustang is ricing it up. In the case of the pickup, that is perfectly OK with anyone I know. It is a modern truck, and that seems to be the fad and they have a big following. But.....please don't break the unwritten code of not ricing up a vintage Mustang. [/soapbox]

Yeah, I am old school Mustanger. Leave the ricicng up to the kids with their new rides. That's fine with me. More power to them. They have their hobby, and we have ours. And, we should respect each other's opinion, even if it goes against the grain.
Just don't ask me to condone ricing up a perfectly good car.
