Nice find Jon,
Since you're not going stricty origional, why compromise on the tires?
The wide ovals are not radials, so not very safe on the street compared to modern tires. They are mostly for trailered show cars.
The BF Goodrich Radial T/As have raised white letters with that great retro look
but they're also a modern all weather tire with excellent traction.

Are you going to paint the Exterior or Interior?

Ford eliminated the hood letters in ’68 anyway. I like the letters. My car came with no hood or trunk letters, but the holes were there – just filled in. All I had to do was push the stuff through with an awl, tap in the barrels and install the letters. I was lucky I didn’t have to try and measure where the holes should be.

What engine does your ’68 have?

According to the inspection report I had done the car originally had a 6 cyl. it now has a 289....appears to be as original as possible. I'm anticipating a few issues but it runs solid. The seller put in an electronic ignition.

I'm thinking of replacing the hood with this type and painting the car black. I've always loved the black mustangs with red interior...maybe throw some redlines on there too!!

The bottom rim, W05, was an option on the '67, but not the '68. If you're not worried about being correct for the year model, you might want to consider Magnum 500s. I think they were first offered on the '69 model. Another rim that was correct for the year is the Shelby 10-spoke. I Photoshopped those onto my car.

I attached a picture of both.

Or you could paint the hood black and leave it. Here is my 67 with that style hood.

I'm glad someone pointed out the thing about no letters on the hood.
