Default Just bought this 68 convertible......

.....and I've got to switch out these wheels and tires. I'm thinking Firestone Wide Ovals. I'm thinking of going with the stock 68 style wheel...any thoughts?? opinions??

Thanks

I think the '68 chrome 'turbine' style would look best...I have a '67 myself, but have always favored the '68-style wheels...Remember, its your car and do what YOU like best!

I'm guessing you might be up around Flagstaff.
Nice looking car! The top looks tight and new.
I really like the styled wheels, WO5.
Looks like your missing the pony badges on the front fenders and the FORD on the hood.

I applaud you for wanting to go with period correct wheels. Either of the two you have pictured will look great, the bottom one though is the 65-66 styled steel wheel so you may prefer the first one, that said I have them on my 69 and they look fine. If you do go with the second route it looks like you can save money by reusing the center caps you already have.

Nice lookin' '68! It looks like my cars younger sister! Is that a black or a dark red interior?

Here's my 2 cents on the wheels.

The first one (W03) is chromed and was originally offered on the Mustang in '69. In '68, they had the same wheel as the '69, but it was painted argent grey, instead of being chromed. It had a stainless trim ring.

I'd go with the stock '68 Style Steel rims. I have a friend with a '67 Convertible that has them on her car - she likes them better than the '67 rims.

I like the stock look - like they did when they were new.

I'll vote for the first ones. I have them on my 69. They are the argent ones with the beauty ring and GT centers. They look a lot better than I thought they would. But, then I guess the Gt would be going too far, huh?

Thanks for the input guys...the car is from NY. Having it transported to Phx. Hopefully I'll have it by the 20th or so. The pictures make it look a little cleaner than it is but it is a solid driver. There are a couple small dents and the top isn't perfect. But I bought it for about 3-4,000 dollars less than it appraised for. The interior is red. I'm thinking of painting it black down the road....not sure...it's going to be fun whatever I end up doing.

Yeah , the seller has replaced the running pony badge on the passenger side since the pics and I kind of like it without the FORD on the hood...probably replacing the hood one day anyway.
