Default JBA Exhaust

Anyone here running a JBA stainless exhaust? How's it sound? I'm getting their mid length headers and was considering their H-pipe and complete exhaust as well. The wife loves the sound of the 2 1/2" Flowmaster with 40s on it. The JBA guy I talked to said theirs were slightly quieter but that I could always have the 40s welding in at a local shop instead of their mufflers. Would the Flowmaster 40s have close to the same sound on a different exhaust system?

I'd just go to a local shop to have a stainless exhaust system properly bent and installed however up there it would cost over 1500.00. I can take in a complete system like the JBA and it'll cost about 150.00 to have them install it. Unfortunately I've never welded stainless steel and I'm fairly sure you cant with a MIG anyways.

You most certainly can weld stainless with a MIG.

Eh, SS is kind of a waste of money. It may be worth it to you with salt on the roads, but that's if you drive it in the snow. But doubt you will. The only advantage other than saying you have SS is it won't rust...but JBA uses a cheaper 409 SS which isn't as pure as say a 304. The 409 will shows signs of rusting, but at twice the cost of mild steel.

Living in South Jersey the car will be driven pretty much year round as that is what she wants. A year round daily driver. It will see road salt unfortunately. We don't get much snow but on those few snowy or icy days we do get she can drive our 03 Exploder. We're keeping the car so it'll eventually come with us back to eastern Canada down the road though it will not be year round driven up there.

This is why I was looking at SS figuring it would last longer than the regular steel pipes or an anodized aluminium setup. As for the JBA its a package deal I got which includes the ceramic mid-length headers, H-pipe, complete exhaust with hardware and tips. I haven't purchased it yet but was quoted a decent price for it from one of their distributors.

Believe it or not, 409 stainless and aluminumized steel will wear about the same. The weld joints will be your issue, but at 1/3 to 1/4 the cost, I would go with the mild steel.

I couldn't get their shorty headers to fit in the engine compartment but used their "header back" system welded to the stock manifolds. It sounds great and flows well. I think they use Magnaflow mufflers as I recall. I had mine welded in with a local mufller shop - it came with lots of clamps for each connecting piece but I had a stage II TCP sub-frame kit and wanted the pipes above the sub-frame. I have about a half inch above and sub-frame and about a half inch below the body. it looks really good and sounds great - I also like the fact that it has a GT valence exit so the pipes come out the rear valence with a nice chrome tip that is part of the last pipe. it is also mandrel bent which I like much better than any bends at the muffler shop - I did this once before and I didn't like the sound of the bent pipes.
