Default Can I replace this part? (Pics)

Hi guys,

I am going over my winter project, a 1966 mustang with a 200ci. I noticed the shock bushings in the engine bay are destroyed.

Here are some pics, The mounting bracket is currently removed.

Can these bushing be changed or do I need to buy new shocks?

If they can be changed anyone know where I can buy replacement bushings online?

The shocks appear to work well so I don't really want to change them unless I have to.

Thanks,

My shocks usually only cost about $30. But in Canada I know that would be different. I don't really know if you can replace the bushings though.

it would be cheaper if you just bought new shocks IMO, about 30 bucks per shock like BA said

Yeah, I tried to find them online but came up with nothing.

I may just leave them for now and replace them at a later date. I know its only $30 a shock but all these small parts keep adding up.

I personally have a new found respect for anyone that restores these old cars. They are a lot of work!!!

Wait. I paid $15 each for my shocks not $30.

Really, where did you get them?

I might be taking a road trip down south this winter and might pick up a lot of the parts I need.

I'm not wasting my money on shocks. They work and that is all that matters. Going cheap allows me to put the rest of the money on other parts for the mustang.

Gas-A-Justs are pretty cheap. You can get bushings from your local parts store (they're generic, not Mustang-specific), but if those bushings are destroyed, I can almost guarantee the shocks need to be replaced as well. New shocks will come with bushings and will significantly improve ride quality.
