Please Help me!!!
I sold my 1966 Mustang was I graduated High School. Ever since I have been on a mad search to try and find it and buy it back. It honestly keeps me up at night. Does anyone know how I can find it?
VIN # 6FO7C384310
LICENSE PLATE: 2ENA635
1966 Mustang 289 V8, 3 speed. It was a wonderful, Poppy Seed Orange color with Black interior. It had the original air conditioning unit but it didn't work. Car was in excellent shape when I sold it. I sold it in Danville CA back in 1993.
I have been searching on the internet for years now. I even went as far as bribing a cop to run the numbers for me, which he wouldn't do. Does anyone know how I can track my car down?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-George

do you know who you sold it to? have there info? call them, then see who they sold it to and so on.. or call the dmv's, you would only have to call max of 50 times, unless 1 dmv can search all states. they can usually do it.
I do know who I sold it to. Paul Ryan of Benicia CA. Anyone know him? I have the original bill of sale. However I have called him several times over the years and he never returns my call. Either it's the wrong number or he thinks I'm stalking him. Whatever the reason I can't get him to call me back.
I was told the DMV can't tell me who the owner is. Legal garbage.
My other option that I've been searching for is to find a similar car. But I honestly have never found one like mine. Anyone have a 66 Mustang, 3 speed, poppy seed orange, 289, V8? I would settle for just finding the same car, not the exact car. I'm willing to pay almost anything.
Thanks for everyones input. I can tell you all feel my pain.

You could hire an investigator to track the car down. They have ways of finding out info the average person can't find. This could be expensive and even if you find the car and the owner may not want to sell it.
I'd look for another '66 Coupe. In 1966, Ford made almost 500,000 Coupes. You should have no trouble finding a very nice Coupe with a 289-2V engine. Then you can just transform it into the car you had in High School and enjoy the hell out of it.
I would start looking on Craigslist in your area and branch out from there. Buying a car on Ebay is a crapshoot - you may get lucky, but you may also get stuck with a car with well hidden damage.
Good Luck!

Lots of guys have had that same dream, to find their old car. It rarely pans out.
That car could have been wrecked or cut up and parted out or stolen and driven to Mexico - you or anyone else would ever be able to find out.
Seriously, buy any old 66 C code coupe and build a duplicate. You'll be just as happy in the end.

Here's a nice looking red '66 with a black interior, but it has an automatic transmission. It's in the Bay Area.

I understand your pain. I know where my high school truck is at. I still can't get it back. My grandfather passed away and when he did my granddad left everything to my aunt and she refusses to give anything to my mother or any of her children. I offer more money each time that I see it even though it gets worse off everytime that I see it. No build is going to replace your high school vehicle no matter what. I've tried.
