Default "NEW" 1969 Fastback

I see year one is offering a 1969 Mustang shell now (excited).
What do you guys think about buying a 1969 coupe (found one for 800 bucks) and swapping the parts onto this shell?
Would it be worth the build?

it looks super nice but I'm not sure if you would want to pay 15k (plus shipping and tax's) for what wouldn't be a "real" fastback

but I still think it would be sick

also I guess this settles the dispute that 69's are better than 70's, they decided to reproduce a 69 shell instead :P

Yeah for what they're charging for the shell you could probably buy a great condition real '69 Fastback. I just saw one go for $4750 on ebay, true it had been converted to a bracket car, but it had a perfect body, 351C, 4 link rear suspension, two 5 point racing seats, ladder subframe, roll cage and fuel cell. Basically no interior though.

@4reboy Maybe, but next time I buy a Mustang I'm buying a '70 and just throwing the '69 fenders/headlights/bumper on. I much prefer the '70 tail lights and the deleted 'brake scoops', plus bolt-in windshield. And the '70s sell for less.

if 69 was so great, why did they fix the unwanted growth on the 1/4 panel?

or the nerdy stripe and headlights, four eyed geek....

jk but i think its a great idea. last i heard Ford was giving those new shells official Ford Vins, i think its a great way to build a truly brand new mustang. no old metal at all.

woah there guys it was just a joke. Everyone has their opinions on what is better.

and I for one like the four eyed geek with nerdy stripes. I even like the "scoop" on the quarter panel, every time i look at a 70 sportroof it doesn't seem right to me because i think something belongs there, that quick slope to "fill in" the scoops just doesn't blend right for me.

but hell i'd still take a 70 if I had the chance, it doesn't bother me that much

I don't like the new bodies... now any joe blow with more money than brains can build a brand new car.. and the price of 69s will only go up... people buying them to steal the VINs to register their brand new rides as originals... they're already doing that with the camaros and 67s.

I'm not a fan of them doing this at all.

The demand for the fastback/sportroof has gotten big some sites sell the sheet metal to make a coupe in to one.Even a company or two that builds.I rather buy a factory five shelby daytona coupe for 15k over a dynacron body.

They claim:1969 Mustang fastback pre-welded reproduction body shell.
The 1969 Mustang fastback reproduction body shell kit is licensed by Ford Motor Company.

My view on it is that you can have everything new.
With my 1970 it's burns my **** just to put reconditioned used parts back on it.
I'm a Mustang lover not a Mustang restorer.
I think I would buy one,As for VIN#'s can't a person purchase them from a salvage yard on a wrecked Mustang or something?
I suppose if you built it,it would have to be "off-road" use only without VIN#'s?

There is a loop hole that can take the vin off one car and put it on the fresh shell.Other way is to license it as a kit car.

I don't know why someone needs to do the VIN thing. Most states will let you register the car. Dynacorn says;
1) An existing VIN on a vehicle that is titled in your name can be transferred to a repair part (as instructed by your State authority).
2) A number may be issued by your State to ID a custom built vehicle when it passes a safety and number verification inspection.
3) A licensed manufacturer issued a VIN when the vehicle (or vessel) is made and ready for delivery. This can only be issued when a "turn key" (completed) car, truck, boat or aircraft has been manufactured.

I think it would be pretty cool to build one. They use better metal now and MUCH better rust prevention. They are completely EDP coated. I understand that it seems wierd for hardcore Mustang "originalists". I kinda wish I had waited and bought one instead of restoring our 70FB since we are gonna restomod it. Personally I would rather mod a new body and leave the original to someone who wants to restore an original.
