Default Mustang II front end/steering

One of my high school students is stripping a '76 Mustang II coupe with a 302 ci to complete a 76 Mustang II fastback. He wants to mothball the coupe and/or possibly get rid of it. I have heard of hotrodders using Mustang II front ends (rack & pinion perhaps) for their cars, but wonder if that would be something worth grabbing for my 68 coupe or perhaps another future restomod project. If so what would the front end/steering/suspension be worth? .......or should I not even mess with it?
What say the experts?

i dont know much, kinda sorta looked into gettig aftermarket, but those are brand new, overly built assemblies, if you took that out you would need to really refubish most of the parts, plus it would be a lot of fabrication on your end.

but if you want your car to handle like a new car, then this is the best way to go.

You have to weld it in it can be a pain. The reason street rodders use the mustang 2 set up is its cheap and everywhere and its better then the straight axle most of them use to have.

Lots of better options out there.
Rod and customs kit is what I used on my 66 coupe.
I had a m2 and thought about doing the same thing.
After looking at the kit and how easy it was over making the old front end work I went with the kit.

Never looked back since. Unless I had a rare numbers car wort some cash or a very good original mustang I wouldnt thing twice about doing the kit again.

I would say the todays kits are a improvement over the stock mustang 2 design anyway.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will pass on the M2 front end and keep my stock front end under it for the time being.
