suspension help
well the winter project has began and im looking for some ideas for the suspension on the 67'. ive already decided to go with a power R&P.
but i would really like to designe the suspension so i can get the car to handle really well.
anyone ever looked into putting an IRS from a cobra into as classic?

It's been done, but it's expensive and requires extensive fabrication. Not something most people are willing to tackle. Honestly, unless you're going to track the car, the stock leaf spring setup should work fine. You can add a panhard bar, traction bars, and a sway bar if you really feel the need.
For the front, I'd probably recommend something like the Global West, TCP, or Ron Morris coilover setups. Pricey, but they don't require any fabrication, and they work well.
If you don't want to spend a boatload of money, the stock suspension can be modified to handle pretty well.

Well, it depends on what needs to be replaced already. If your control arms/ball joints are in good shape, you can get away for a few hundred. 560lb 1" drop springs for $80, roller perches for $180, Shocks for $40-90/ea, Shelby drop template and drill bit for $20, sway bar for $100 or so, export brace and monte carlo bar for about $80. I'm running this setup and my car handles great compared to the old stock setup. The Shelby drop and roller perches make a huge difference in handling ability.
IIRC, the Global West and TCP coilover setups run something like $2k.

I just installed a power rack (Flaming River) and done the Shelby drop with roller spring perches and plan to add a 1" front sway bar. I'm not sure what will be done in the rear but i guess it will be a set of Traction bars or a rear sway bar. A good set of shocks and the proper alignment helps also. "Norm Peterson" is the man for all the suspension questions and hopefully he will chime in as I plan to ask him what is best on the rear on the 65. I would think that the Shelby drop is one of the least invasive (besides drilling the holes) that you can do, and all it takes is time and a drill bit.
