Default mix and match

i am currently in the process of restoring my 66 gt and noticed a few items that look like they belong on a 65. the rally pac, seats and rear view mirror look like theyre from 65. my mom is the original owner and im sure she never had those items replaced. i believe the build date for my car was in early march 66. was it common for mustangs to roll off the line with items from older years on it? i've had a couple people ask me if my car is a 65.

It's not uncommon at all. Why do you think Ford was able to build them so cheaply?
