Default supercharger carb verses efi

I am about drop the edelbrock heads on 351w for my 69 mach. Some where down the road I plan on supercharging down the road. I am wondering who here has a supercharger ( ie paxton) with a carb setup. how much messing around with the carb is there? Do you need a special carb to be inclosed box? what other hurdles where there? My other option is to use all the efi stuff i have and just brake down and run efi.

theres a few minor you have to do, or Demon had a blow through carb now.EFI is easier and more failsafe, but they both have their good/bad points.

Efi will always be more efficient than a carburetor when it comes to forced induction. A carburetor just isn't designed for boost-but don't get me wrong . . . One can have great success with a carb'd setup and be happy with the results. With efi, however, one can adjust the timing and fueling(especially) much more precisely.

But it is nice to work with carburetors in general. One won't need to worry about frying an ecu unit, or doing anything catastrophic like that.

With boost the ecm has to be able to make the adjustment. Some can and some can't. There are a few other tricks that will help like a 4:1 boost reference fuel pressure regulator that will make say a 36lb in jector act like a 40 under boost, and a Spark control that can take out timing as the boost goes up.

Allot of guys I know that are using carbs on forced induction like CSU carbs. They will set it up for you before shipping it to you. Carbs will run cooler intake temps then EFI will and make lots of HP. I prefer EFI for the flexibility and I'm just more comfortable with it.

They will definitely work. Not quit as efficient, but for most, not worth the upgrade. I'll be doing it soon so I can datalog more things. And the ONLY reason I'm really doing it is because I'm going to megasquirt. It's not worth the 2500 for other ECU's, to me. I'm making just over 530 to the ground, but everytime I make a change for power, I need to make more than one adjustment. Change fuels, change everything. So if you go with 10 psi or what ever, and leave it, it'll be just fine.
